Video Card Compatibility

Postby Axel on Sun Feb 08, 2009 4:44 am

Post your results here, with the OS Version, card model, video ram, driver version.

Adobe maintains a list of video cards found to work fine with Photoshop CS4's first steps in 3D acceleration. Basically, a handful of ATI and NVIDIA cards so far. FastPictureViewer *should* also work in hardware accelerated mode with most of these cards.

For best performances it is recommended to use a card with 512MB (or more) of video memory combined with the very latest driver available.

Vista x32, NVIDIA 7950GT 512MB, Driver 181.22

No issue, accelerated mode works perfectly. The card supports up to 256MB per image in video memory and the NVIDIA driver uses a mix of video memory and system memory to provide 1GB of space for preloading images. With auto-rescaling set to 224MB FastPictureViewer can display images of any size with this card (tested up to 466 megapixels, 21,600 x 21,600, downscaled to about 50 megapixels for display).

After proper configuring of FVP there were no issues so far.
423 megapixels image (29 566 x 14 321 pixels) loaded successfully. In both hardware and software modes.

p.s.: although i had to limit memory per image value to 160MB so FPV can parse the entire file in hardware mode

FPV free Home Basic Edition 1.00 build 92 running on Dell Inspiron 8600 under Windows XP, 32Bit SP3.

Video Card: Mobility Radeon 9600, 128MB dedicated

tested Driver:
- Dell original 8.162-050803a2-025875C, A06
- Radeon Omega Drivers 4.8.442 (Catalyst 7.12)
- AMD Catalyst 9.2

In general fine with all drivers, but DirectX accelerated display doesn't work for standard view of the picture, zoomed to full picture view on screen.
When activating 100% and 300% view by key/mouse, they look fine, but zommed view to screen size (standard view) seems to be zoomed very largely (~500%?). So in general fine, but just too big... ;-)

I cannot seem to get the graphics acceleration to work for my computer.

I'm running a Radeon X1900 xtx, which has 512 mb, and that is fully updated.

When scrolling through images it seems a little sluggish at times, and many images come up as a question mark icon and won't load if scrolled through. If I directly click on the image in the folder, it will load, but the resolution is a little screwed up. It usually only shows about 1/3 of the image on the screen.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

Just turn the GPU acceleration off. Things will get better with your next operating system regarding this option. Speed will also increase noticeably.

Hi all,

just wanted to mention, that the program is working fine for me on the Radeon Mobility 9600 with the hardware acceleration turned on since at least build 121 (didn't check prior ones)!

Thanks a lot again to the developers for this amasing piece of software!

radeon 5850 1gb vapor-x gddr5 -> catalyst 10.3 -> fails (windows7 x64)
this is my third videocard wich does not work with gpu enhance (x64) the other two were nvidia.
when using x86 enhance worked fine with the older cards, how about improve acceleration for x64?
