Auto Focus Point overlay

Describe any features you would like to see in future versions of FastPictureViewer Professional.

Auto Focus Point overlay

Postby mhwlng on Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:28 pm

Hi,

I have a CANON 50D and I would find it very useful, If I can see the selected auto focus point overlaid on the picture ?
I think that this information only exists in the CR2 RAW file....

(this display works in Canon Digital Photo Professional, and also in PhotoMe http://www.photome.de/home.html)

This is a good suggestion, however this information is very dependant on the camera brand and model and is stored in private manufacturer data, which is not publicly documented.

Some 3rd parties went through the trouble of reverse-engineering this information, and PhotoME makes good use of it. I'll have a look at what it takes but I cannot make any promise as to if and when this function might appear (the next major features to come to the Pro edition are basic FTP/Web publishing and a dictionary-based keywords & IPTC editor).

As a workaround, you can actually launch the PhotoME metadata viewer from the program launcher, as suggested here.
