Quick delete

Postby depesz on Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:47 am

Is there any easy delete photo method? I was looking a program for FAST both viewing and deleting unwanted photos. Regarding speed, FPV is the best - no discussion :-D

But deleting files... I have to press ctrl+del, then confirm... Simply Del, without even need of confirmation would be ideal option (for security, user could check/uncheck this possibility in options).

Any chances for implementing it in next version?

The confirmation prompt is governed by the Recycle Bin settings in Explorer. It's easy to turn it off: right-click the Recycle Bin and click Properties, then uncheck the "Display confirmation dialog" option. If the Recycle Bin option is not enabled in FastPictureViewer the deletions are permanent and the confirmation dialog cannot be disabled.

Same suggestion. It's definitly the fastest picture viewer, i really love it, but it makes the deletion process pretty unconvenient and...slow, especially when i am checking thousand of photos and i need to delete many.
I wish i can only press the DELETE key to do so, it will be so much convenient :P

I'm working on 'rename' right now, 'delete' is not too far away, will see what I can do... 8-)

You are welcome. By the way build 104 has just be re-issued due to an error where renaming templates were not always saved. You may want to re-download the latest version if you are using the Pro edition.

Thanks, I hate delete confirmations when I know it only goes to the recycle bin anyway!

Starting from v1.1.140 you could also use the new Batch Delete function to mark your "rejects" for deletion and quickly erase them all at once when you are done reviewing: press X to mark photos, then Ctrl+X to delete all marked photos at once very quickly 8-)

This function erases both the JPEG and the raw if you shoot in RAW+JPG mode, and can optionally move images to the Recycle Bin (slower) if desired.
