Performance With a few large TIF files

Postby MichaelEzra on Wed Dec 30, 2009 5:21 am

This probably belongs to Bugs/issues threads, but I could not find that section of the forum.

I am running FPV 1 Build 122 x64 on Win7 x64 in GPU mode with 9600 Nvidia card with 512 MB.
Trying to browse through a folder with a few Tif files, each about 200-300MB each. Storage is pretty fast, about 130 MB/s, CPU - AMD 4800+X2. There are no subdirectories in the folder.

It takes a very, very, very long time to open images. An in some cases instead of an image I get red question mark. What is peculiar, in Task Manager FLP process has IO reads of 85 GB!!!, while no image is showing. Tif files are 16 bit ZIP compressed.

Rescaling/parallel loading in FPV options makes no perceptible difference.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

win7-x64 + nvidia + fpv = turn off fpv´s gpu support and see if that helps

Turning off GPU makes no difference.
All I see is "...Loading"

Turn preloading off, or at least set it to a very low value, or get a (much) faster disk, something like 1GB/s sustained.
