downsizing cr2's of certain cameras

Hi,
Your codec is really Fast and nice!
Very impressive!
Thanks!

However,

For certain cameras, FastPictureViewer downsizing preview files.
I checked Canon CR2 files of few cameras, FastPictureViewer reporting:
- 20d CR2 file size = 1536x1024 instead true 3504x2336
- XSi CR2 file size = 2256x1504 instead true 4272x4272
- 1DMkIII CR2 file size = 1936x1288 instead true 4752x3168
- 1DsMkIII CR2 file size = 2784x1856 instead true 5616x3744

FastPictureViewer decoding correctly CR2 files created by Canon X1i, 5d, 5d2, and 7d.

I played with FastPictureViewer Options, but could not find what would change this.
If this by design, then why downsizing is not applied for all files?

Hum, the sizes you posted looks suspiciouly like.. oh wait these *are* the dimensions of the embedded JPEG previews written by the cameras! 8-)

Joke aside, the actual preview image size is camera model dependant indeed. The codec pack ships with a control panel applet that let users decide if they want to always use the JPEG preview, or decode the raw data.

Our Canon codec ships with the "always JPEG" option checked, but you can turn it off if you want. The drawbacks will be less speed (the codec does not become slow, compared to other raw converters, but it will not be as fast as when it just extracts and unpack the JPEG data...). Also, the raw conversion may not look as vibrant as the JPEG, but you'll get the full images.

For most purposes (thumbnails and quick preview in Explorer or Windows Photo Viewer) the default options are fine.

I see, applet on Control Panel indeed changed preview size.
Wise options.
I did not know about that applet, I was looking for size options in Options dialog.

Thanks.
