Image viewing solution for Leica M9

Hi, I'm trialling FastPictureViewer as a possible solution for viewing M9 files. The default viewing size is 320x216, and I noticed from this post a solution by pressing the R key overcomes this initial image size limitation to enlarge the viewing area. However it would be great if the program can work to achieve larger initial image size with a background or startup process. Thanks.

Unchecking the "Adobe DNG" option in the Codec Pack Control Panel applet that you can find in your Start Menu will solve the issue: the program will see the small preview and decide to switch to the larger raw version automatically (which is slower, but will show the full-resolution image).

Another way to work around the "M9 small preview problem" would be to re-do the built-in previews and save more decently sized images. This can be done with the Adobe DNG Converter: simply convert from DNG to DNG and specify a full-size preview image. This is one more step but it gives you the benefit of very fast high-resolution previewing, similar to what, say, Nikon users get. Another (longer) path is to ask Leica to write a larger preview in some future firmware update...
