Axel, you are completely right. After uninstalling the Adobe DNG codec things a are running fine. I left a link to your site at http://forums.adobe.com/message/2697534#2697534 hoping someone drops by and buys your codec package.

Thank you very much for this fantastic service!

Too bad! I just wanted to purchase the codec package. But I won't buy at a store (RegNow) that expects me to enter my real name, address and phone number. This is definitely against German and European privacy laws. Sorry, but I do not support the collecting of private data. Is there another way to buy from you?

I never heard of any online ordering mechanism where one can place orders anonymously. How are they supposed to charge your CC account if they don't know your name??

Besides that, if you select US Dollar as currency on RegNow's page, several more payment options are available, including PayPal. We don't offer alternative ways at this time either for the codecs or the image viewer.

That said, it is generally considered safer to shop through a well known online service such as RegNow (or use PayPal as middle man) than to send your details and credit card number to every seller.

Even when I chose PayPal as payment service I can't do this without entering my personal data. I can't see any reason to do so. And, as I already mentioned, requesting more data for a purchase than really needed is against the law. I also can't see any reason to trust RegNow more than anybody else. Until now they haven't done anything to make them trustworthy. The contrary is the case.
