Concepts

The batch delete function is a core feature of FastPictureViewer Professional. With the exception of some artists and agencies who never delete anything, most digital photos are, ultimately, discarded with only a small percentage kept for further processing.

FastPictureViewer supports several types of workflows. Some photographers prefer to cherry-pick their best photos and separate them from the rest. Others prefer to delete all the images they don't want so that only the "keepers" remain at the end of a session.

While you may delete files one-by-one using the traditional delete function (Del key), you may find it advantageous to mark images for batch deletion. Doing so displays a red X at the bottom-left of the application's window but doesn't delete any images as you go.

This feature also lets you review the marked images - you can even use the "View Filter" feature to only view the ones you've marked - and provides the opportunity to change your mind, remove marks, or continue marking images. Then, when you're ready, simply delete all marked images at once.

Whatever your photo review habits, FastPictureViewer makes it easy to delete unwanted images.

How To

Enter X to mark a single image for deletion. To mark all images for deletion, enter Shift+X. Ctrl+X will delete all marked images at once.

FastPictureViewer lets you move files to the system's Recycle Bin (the trash can), from where you can recover them if you later change your mind. You can also delete files immediately and permanently. If any subfolders are empty after a batch delete operation, you can remove those folders by ticking the appropriate option in the delete confirmation window.

The X-marks and batch delete functions are fast and scale very well. They can easily handle thousands of images; however, no X-marks will reappear if you restart a session prior to deleting any marked images. If you attempt to exit the program while X-marks are set, FastPictureViewer will display a reminder that any X-marks will expire upon ending the session
