How do I configure the NEF codec to use imbedded jpg

I installed the WIC RAW Codecs on my new windows 7 laptop and they seem to be working great. I do have one question. The list of RAW files mentions that the CODEC can be configured to use the imbedded jpg files in the Nikon NEF raw files. I can't figure out how to do that. Can anyone help? I'm guessing that doing this would speed up the filling in of the thumnails in windows explorer.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

There is a "Codec Pack Configuration Tool" installed with the codec pack, which allows such configuration. Look for an icon on your desktop or an entry in your start menu (All Programs -> FastPictureViewer -> Codec Pack Configuration Tool).

The NEF codec uses embedded previews by default. It can be configured not to do so but for most people the default option is the sensible one as the embedded preview reflects camera settings (such as PictureControl etc) and Capture NX edits.
